Create your first voice agent
Follow these steps to go from zero to a working voice agent.1
Sign up
Go to heysonara.com and create an account using your email, Google, or GitHub. You’ll receive a $5 welcome credit on the free plan - enough to test your first agent.

Create a workspace
After signing in, you’ll land on the dashboard. Your default workspace is created automatically. You can rename it or create additional workspaces later under Workspace Settings.

Create an agent
Navigate to Agents in the sidebar and click Create Agent. Give your agent a name and description, then click Create.You’ll be taken to the agent configuration page where you can customize everything - instructions, voice, language model, and more.

Write instructions
In the Instructions tab, write a system prompt that tells your agent how to behave. For example:Optionally, set a welcome message that plays when a call starts.

Choose a voice
Go to the Voice tab and select a voice provider and voice. You can preview voices before selecting one. Adjust the speed if needed.

Test your agent
Click the Test button in the top-right corner to start a live voice conversation with your agent. Speak naturally - the agent will respond in real time.

Deploy
Once you’re happy with your agent, click Publish. You can then:
- Assign a phone number for inbound/outbound calls
- Embed a widget on your website
- Share a demo link for quick testing
