Create your first voice agent

Follow these steps to go from zero to a working voice agent.
1

Go to heysonara.com and create an account using your email, Google, or GitHub. You’ll receive a $5 welcome credit on the free plan - enough to test your first agent.
2

Create a workspace

After signing in, you’ll land on the dashboard. Your default workspace is created automatically. You can rename it or create additional workspaces later under Workspace Settings.
3

Create an agent

Navigate to Agents in the sidebar and click Create Agent. Give your agent a name and description, then click Create. You’ll be taken to the agent configuration page where you can customize everything - instructions, voice, language model, and more.
4

Write instructions

In the Instructions tab, write a system prompt that tells your agent how to behave. For example:
You are a friendly customer support agent for Acme Corp.
Help customers with order tracking, returns, and general questions.
Be concise, helpful, and always confirm before taking any action.
Optionally, set a welcome message that plays when a call starts.
5

Choose a voice

Go to the Voice tab and select a voice provider and voice. You can preview voices before selecting one. Adjust the speed if needed.
6

Test your agent

Click the Test button in the top-right corner to start a live voice conversation with your agent. Speak naturally - the agent will respond in real time.
7

Deploy

Once you’re happy with your agent, click Publish. You can then:
  • Assign a phone number for inbound/outbound calls
  • Embed a widget on your website
  • Share a demo link for quick testing
